BURSTA woman in her 30s was rescued after falling about 30 metres in the Blue Mountains on Saturday morning. Reports say that she was climbing at the Ben Travado Wall, but there are no other details.
A major rescue operation was launched after the woman came to rest in difficult-to-reach terrain. “The climber, a woman in her 30s, was in a difficult to reach location but special operations paramedics, a doctor and critical care paramedic along with police rescue were able to reach her by foot to provide treatment,” a NSW Ambulance spokesperson said in a statement on social media.
“A critical care paramedic on board the Toll Ambulance Rescue Helicopter was also winched in to treat the patient,” the spokesperson said. The woman was treated for arm and shoulder injuries and multiple abrasions as rescue teams worked to get her out of the area. She was treated for arm and shoulder injuries as well as multiple abrasions before being winched out by the doctor, critical care paramedic and the Toll Ambulance Rescue Helicopter and flown to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.
