Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announce engagement

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce — two superstars from the worlds of music and sports who have sparked their share of political headlines over the years — are engaged.

The "Shake It Off" singer announced the engagement in a Tuesday post to her 280 million Instagram followers.

"Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married," Swift, 35, wrote, along with a firecracker emoji.

Swift shared snapshots of her and Kelce embracing in a garden filled with flowers and showing off what appeared to be an engagement ring.

Kelce, a 35-year-old tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, simultaneously posted the same message and photos on his Instagram page.

The couple has been dating for two years.

While Swift has remained virtually silent about politics throughout most of her career, she became more publicly outspoken in 2018, endorsing two Democrats competing in Tennessee House and Senate races. She's also been critical of President Trump, saying in 2019 that he was "gaslighting the American public." Swift endorsed then-Vice President Kamala Harris's 2024 White House bid.

Trump has repeatedly fired back at Swift, saying he "hates" the chart-topping Grammy Award winner.

“Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she’s no longer ‘HOT?'” Trump wrote in a May social media post.

Trump swiped at Swift in February after the Chiefs lost the Super Bowl to the Philadelphia Eagles.

“The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift,” Trump wrote on Truth Social, claiming the pop star was "booed out of the stadium" because "MAGA is very unforgiving!"

Last year, Trump called Swift "very beautiful" and questioned whether the entertainer was "legitimately liberal" or if it was "just an act."

The White House didn't immediately respond to ITK's request for comment about news of her engagement.
