BURSTLaura Rogora made history a couple of weeks ago when she climbed 5.15c faster than anyone ever has with her ascent of Bibliographie in Céüse, France. She also set another record – she became the first woman to climb more than 50 routes graded 5.14d (9a) or harder. Known for her mind-boggling sending sprees, her record-breaking achievement of 50 climbs over 5.14d has already grown to 54 climbs over 5.14d.
In typical Rogora fashion, the very next day after her send of Bibliographie, she hopped on Pornographie 5.14d and sent it on her third go. “After sending Bibliographie, I still had two days left at Céüse, so of course I had to make the most of them and enjoy a little more of this incredible place,” said Rogora on Instagram, referring to her send of Pornographie (plus a flash of Le Chirurgien du Crépuscule 5.13d, and L’arcadémicien des crépis 5.14b on her third go). Her most recent 5.14d ascent was Escaladur in Arco, Italy, which was established by Stefano Ghisolfi in December 2024.
Rogora is an absolute force on rock. Her resume is stacked. She sends the hardest grades, and her ability to onsight, flash, or send in three goes or less makes it all the more impressive. Few climbers, regardless of gender, can even come close to this high volume of hard sends. Her onsight of Ultimate Sacrifice 5.14c in Gorges du Loup, France, in July of last year made her the first woman in history to onsight the grade 5.14c. Additionally, she onsighted four 5.14b and two 5.14c climbs last year alone. She also has two 5.15b climbs to her name. Her first 5.15b was Ali Hulk (sit start extension) in Rodellar, Spain back in 2020. In September 2022, she climbed Erebor 5.15b in Arco, Italy.
The 25-year-old Italian climber’s recent ascent of Bibliographie 5.15c was one of her greatest achievements so far. The route was established by Alex Megos back in 2020. It took Megos 60 sessions, and he initially proposed 5.15d. Stefano Ghisolfi made the second ascent a couple of weeks later, and with his new beta, downgraded the route to 5.15c. Sean Bailey’s third ascent took 24 sessions. Bouin took around 40 sessions, and Jorge Díaz-Rullo, like Megos, did it around 60. Janja Garnbret sent in 21 sessions. Rogora’s six-day send of Bibliographie is one of the greatest achievements in climbing ever.
