Following up on a banner year in 2025, the Smithers Brewing Company keeps piling up accolades.
At this year’s Canada Beer Cup held in Calgary, Alta. on Oct. 8, the hometown brewery came third in Best of Show for its Let’s Get Ready to Crumble Tart Ale.
Edging out Smithers as the 2026 Beer Cup champion was a British pale ale called Tickity Boo by the Twin City Brewing Company of Port Alberni B.C.
Silver went to Sons of Kent Brewing Company of Chatham, Ont., for its Barrel Aged Imperial Stout called Mammoth.
Let’s Get Ready to Crumble also took the gold medal in its individual category of Specialty Fruit Beer.
Smithers was well-represented with another gold and two silvers, as well. The gold was awarded to the brewery’s House of Commons Canada Common brew in the American Amber Beer category.
The two silvers came for the popular Bootlegger Brown Ale in the British Brown Ale category and Smithersbräu Festbier in the Pale Malty European Lager category.
Smithers Brewing Company is no stranger to the winners circle. At the 2025 Canadian Brewing Awards the company was named Brewery of the year and also brought home six medals including two gold, three silver and one bronze.
And at the 2025 B.C. Beer Awards, Smithersbräu Festbier was Best in Show while Hipster Fuel won gold in the American IPA category and Let’s Get Ready to Crumble scored bronze.
In all, the Canada Beer Cup includes 48 beer categories, five cider categories and three packaging categories with 174 medals awarded. B.C. breweries were particularly well-represented taking home 77 of those individual honours among breweries from all across the country.
Terrace’s Sherwood Mountain Brewhouse was among the B.C. winners with a silver for Packaging Community Collaboration.
