Ronald William Becker

In Loving Memory ~

May 29, 1939 – July 19, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Ronald (Ron) William Becker who passed from this life to heaven on July 19, 2026. He died peacefully with his wife, his eldest son, and one of his granddaughters, Kristin, and Aussie, his well-loved dog, by his side at the Bulkley Valley District Hospital.

Ron was born in Prince Rupert, BC to LeRoy and Lillian Becker. Following graduation, Grade 12, (1958) he moved to Smithers. He found work with the BC Forest Service in Smithers, Rim Forest Products in Hazelton, West Fraser – Pacific Inland Resources, as the Woods Manager, in Smithers. He started two businesses: Alpine Cedar Products and Arctic Resources. For the last 17 years of his life, Ron found employment with the Commissionaires, as a guard at the Smithers RCMP detachment, and he always looked forward to the days he worked. He was proud to work as a guard!

Ron was a gentleman, soft hearted, very caring, reliable and hard working. He was “at home” out in the bush, an avid hunter. He enjoyed hosting our family, or friends for meals, or just for a visit.

Ron met his first wife, Ives, in Smithers and they married in 1961. He married his second wife, Shelley, in 1985.

He is survived by Shelley, his loving wife of 41 years; his first wife, Ives, his sister Donna and brother-in-law Walter Eisele, and his family. He was predeceased by his mother and father.

Ron loved his children. He was very proud of Byron (Tracy), Kevin (Cheryl), Shirley (John Gyger), Tyler, Leona (Mike McKenna) and Logan.

He loved and enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow up – Dylan, Kristin, Jessica, Michael, Christina, Tatum, Shelby, Amber, Kiera, Blake and Rhoads, and now precious great grandchildren Zoe, Eric, Eloise, Sophie, Casey, Linnea, Arthur and Mirra.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 1:30 pm at Mountain View Assembly in Smithers. You are welcome to join us as we all remember and share stories about this amazing man.
