World Cup 2026: What is Vancouver FIFA Fan Fest and where can I take part?

Construction is underway at the PNE Aphitheatre. A 28-day fan festival will be held at the PNE during the World Cup in June.

With the World Cup first match just months away, many B.C. residents may be wondering how they can join in on the fun without seats at B.C. Place.

It turns out there will be another party for soccer fans to cheer on their favourite teams. It’s called the Vancouver FIFA Fan Festival, and Vancouver city staff say it will transform the PNE into a Cup hub for 28 days.

Here are some questions and answers about the event:

When is it?

The fan festival, which is hosted by the city, the province and the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations, will open on Thursday, June 11, and run for 28 days at the Pacific National Exhibition.

Operating hours on game days will start in advance of the first scheduled match broadcast of the day and close after the final match broadcast and all programming.

A full schedule for fan fest can be found at vancouverfwc26/fifa-fan-festival/schedule.

Who can attend?

Anyone. Officials say it will be a family-friendly event with live action screening of the games and entertainment.

“The beautiful game belongs to everyone,” said Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim, adding the festival is a chance to be part of the celebration. ”The fan festival will leave a lasting legacy in the hearts of all those who experience it.”

With a capacity of up to 25,000, the site will offer a variety of experiences, including more than 70 live match broadcasts across the festival site, live music and entertainment on the park stage, and interactive and immersive games.

Jessie Adcock, the Cup host committee lead, said in a statement that the festival will capture the global energy of the Cup.

“With something for everyone, this will be where fans of all ages will gather, connect and celebrate being part of something truly special which will leave lifelong memories,” said Adcock.

What will it cost?

Admission to the fan festival at the PNE will be free to ensure everyone feels welcome, according to a city news release.

However, there will also be a range of “premium options” available. City staff say details about the cost and options will be shared in the coming weeks. According to the city, ticketed access ensures a reserved spot within the amphitheatre and prime spot viewing of the live match screenings.

How will I know when tickets are available?

It’s too soon to book the premium options, however fans who are interested in this option for fan fest can fill out a form online at vancouverfwc26/fifa-fan-festival to receive news and updates about the Cup.

Will there be food and drink at fan fest?

Yes. The festival site will have a variety of options, including restaurants and food trucks. There will also be bars for adults and concession stands.

There will also be an outdoor wine patio called The Vineyard and a row of street food vendors called The Neighbourhood.

Where else are Cup games happening?

The Cup is being held in three host countries, Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. There will be 16 host cities, 48 teams and 104 matches.

The tournament will take place from June 11 to July 19.
