Members of the House Republican Study Committee, fresh off August recess, will give remarks Tuesday afternoon on President Trump's police takeover of the nation's capital.

Trump last month deployed National Guard troops and federal law enforcement officials to the district to patrol the streets and aid in his crackdown on crime.

The president has floated working with Republicans on Capitol Hill to extend the D.C. takeover beyond 30 days, expand the efforts beyond Washington and pass a federal crime bill.

Their remarks are scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. EDT.
