Firefighters are battling a large fire in an industrial area in North Delta Thursday morning.
Delta firefighters were dispatched to the fire in the 9300-block Alaska Way in North Delta just before 9:10 a.m., said the City of Delta.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
Photos from the scene show large plumes of smoke rising from the site, a former mill, on the banks of the Fraser River.
Metro Vancouver said the fire is producing “considerable smoke” and is monitoring air quality. The air quality reading for the region is currently at low-risk, although the regional authority said the readings may not capture the impact of the fire.
