Traffic stop in Surrey nets 3½ kg of fentanyl, cocaine and meth

Two people were arrested after more than three kilograms of illicit drugs were found in a vehicle, police say.

Officers with B.C.’s anti-gang unit, the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of B.C., pulled the car over March 24 as part of an enforcement effort.

During the search, officers found 3.5 kilograms of drugs in bulk and vacuum-sealed bags. The drugs seized included nearly 1.3 kilograms of fentanyl in purple, yellow and red, about one kilogram of cocaine and 1.15 kilogram of methamphetamine.

 B.C.’s Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit seized nearly 1.3 kilograms of fentanyl in different colours, about one kilogram of cocaine, and 1.15 kilogram of methamphetamine from a vehicle and arrested two people on March 24, 2026. 

One person was found to be in violation of study-permit conditions and remains in Canada Border Services Agency custody. Another person was issued a speeding ticket and received a seven-month driving prohibition.

Sgt. Sarbjhit K. Sangha, spokeswoman for the CFSEU, said the seizure represents a “significant financial blow to organized crime.”

No charges have been laid and the investigation is continuing.

Police seek two suspects in Delta arson

Delta police are looking for two people after arson destroyed a Delta home last year.

The fire broke out at a house in the 11500-block of 84A Avenue in North Delta in the early morning hours of April 3, 2025.

Everyone inside the house was evacuated and no one was injured.

Investigators later ruled the fire to be arson.

On Thursday, Delta police released photographs and a video of two individuals believed to be involved.

Abbotsford police find van with more than 20 catalytic converters

Abbotsford police are crediting a vigilant bystander with helping officers find a minivan packed with suspected stolen catalytic converters.

Police say the citizen called police just before 9 a.m. on Tuesday to report a man using an electric saw to cut exhaust pipes from vehicles in the area of Whatcom Road and Highway 1. Officers arrived within six minutes and arrested a man who matched the description provided by the caller.

More than 20 catalytic converters were found inside a nearby minivan associated with the suspect.

Police spokesman Sgt. Paul Walker said the man has been released pending further investigation as police work to identify the catalytic converters, link them with specific thefts, and canvass for additional victims.

“Further investigation will focus on determining which catalytic converters in the suspect’s possession were, in fact, stolen,” he said.

 Abbotsford police found a mini-van packed with more than 20 catalytic converters after a bystander reported suspicious activity to police.
