Evacuation orders and alerts are being downgraded to all clear for areas affected by the Pear Lake wildfire.
At 4 p.m. Monday (Aug.31), the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) rescinded evacuation orders and alerts to all clear for approximately 214 addresses.
The addresses include properties in Big Bar Lake, Little Big Bar Lake, Beaver Dam Lake, Big Bar Road from Highway 97 to Poison Lake Road, Meadow Lake Road from Highway 97 to east of Meadow Lake, and Highway 97 north of Clinton to south of 70 Mile.
“Should conditions change, an evacuation alert and/ or an evacuation order will be reinstated as necessary,” stated

The Pear Lake blaze is approximately 166,117.4 hectares and was discovered on July 17. The fire is suspected to be lightning-caused.
The TNRD also downgraded an evacuation order to an alert for four properties in the area of the French Bar Creek wildfire.
Areas newly downgraded to evacuation alert are:
* Blackdome Mine;
* 9320 Empire Valley Big Bar Rd;
* 7633, 7780 and 8410 Watson Bar Rd.
“This evacuation alert is in place to prepare you to evacuate your premises or property should it be found necessary,” explained the TNRD.
The French Bar Creek wildfire is an estimated 61,766 hectares and was first discovered on July 4.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
