Abbotsford police are warning the public that a convicted sex offender is set for release and will live in the area.

Stephen Bradley Ewing, 46, will be released March 30 from William Head Institution on Vancouver Island.

Ewing has a criminal history including convictions for sexual assault, sexual assault causing bodily harm — including an offence involving a victim under 16 — and for several cases of choking in 2021 and 2023.

Ewing’s conditions of release state he must not be in the presence of children under 16 unless they are accompanied by an adult. He is banned from being in any area where children gather, such as daycares, schools and playgrounds. He must not be in the presence of sex workers, and has restrictions on drug use, alcohol and use of online devices, unless authorized by a parole supervisor.

Public caution is urged and anyone observing possible violations can call 604-859-5225 or 911 in an emergency.
