Sherpa Team First to Summit Everest in 2025

There is now a fixed route to the summit via the South Col route of Mount Everest thanks to the team of Sherpa who’ve been busy installing ropes.

In total seven climber made it to the summit, including Pem Nurbu Sherpa, Tsering Pemba Sherpa, Ashok Lama, Tashi Sherpa, Karma Gyaljen Sherpa, Tashi Gyalzen Sherpa and Pas Tenzi Sherpa. At the same time, another team of climbers were fixing ropes to the summit of Lhotse led by Ang Temba Sherpa.

There have been around 450 permits issued by Nepal’s department of tourism this year, which means more than 800 climbers might summit when you factor in guides.

Meanwhile, climbers on the north side have almost completed fixing ropes to the summit. The North Col route doesn’t get talked about much, but American guide Adrian Ballinger recently laid out what it’s safer – read the interview here.
