President Trump will welcome Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to the Oval Office on Tuesday to discuss trade, just two months after the president imposed a 35 percent tariff rate on the U.S.'s northern neighbor.
Despite weeks of negotiations between the trading partners, Trump cited a "flood" of fentanyl coming from Canada and Carney's efforts to recognize a Palestinian state as road bumps in trade talks.
The latest visit also comes after the president repeatedly floated annexing Canada as the 51st state, though its leaders have forcefully pushed back on the idea.
The event is scheduled to begin at 11:45 a.m. EDT.
