An RV suspected of being a mobile drug nexus was towed and two people arrested in New Westminster this month.
New West PD had been investigating the vehicle since late 2025, when residents of Clute Street began making reports to authorities, concerned about potential drug trafficking connected to people visiting the RV parked in the area.
A warrant was eventually issued last Thursday after extensive investigation and observation by the Street Crime Unit, and a search on the same day turned up prohibited weapons, several airsoft pistols, two batons, and cash as well as suspected crack cocaine and methamphetamine. The RV was towed at the owner’s expense, and a man and woman were arrested and released with court dates and court-ordered conditions.
“We heard from the community loud and clear about this RV,” said NWPD Sgt. Andrew Leaver. “Their reports to police made all the difference. They were our eyes and ears.”

He was treated at the scene by B.C. Emergency Health Services personnel.

Several Crown charges against McLeod have been approved, including one count of assault causing bodily harm, one count of assault with a weapon and one count of failing to comply with a release order. His next court appearance is March 9.
Off-road bike involved in fatal accident on Highway 8
An unregistered, off-road dirt bike was involved in a collision on Highway 8 near Merritt on Tuesday afternoon, an accident that left the rider dead and traffic snarled for hours.
Merritt RCMP received a report of a dirt bike that had hit an SUV at around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, sending the rider flying from his motorcycle. First responders located the victim, but despite life-saving efforts, he succumbed to critical injuries. The SUV driver was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Semi-truck crashed through barrier in northeast B.C., leaving two dead
Two people were found dead inside a semi-truck Tuesday after being found by RCMP responding to an automated crash detection notification.
Northern Rockies RCMP and first responders found two occupants of a loaded tractor trailer inside the cab of the truck down a steep embankment, having suffered fatal injuries. The accident, on the Alaska Highway near Summit Lake at the 605-kilometre mark, appears to have seen the truck go through a guardrail before plunging down the slope. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
“While the investigation is in its infancy, road conditions appear to have been a factor in the crash,” said RCMP Staff Sgt. Kris Clark. “Workers continue to extract the vehicle and its load from the embankment.”
The highway was closed in both directions during the investigation, but has since opened to alternating traffic as of Wednesday afternoon.
Anyone with information or dashcam video about the crash is asked to contact the Northern Rockies RCMP at 250-774-2700.
