Police investigate early-morning extortion related shooting in Abbotsford

Police in Abbotsford are investigating an early-morning shooting at a house in Abbotsford related to a string of extortion-related shootings.

Police shortly after 3:30 a.m., officers responded to reports of shots being fired in the 2500-block of Janzen Street.

When they arrived, officers found two unoccupied vehicles parked in a residential driveway that had been struck by gunfire.

Sgt. Paul Walker, a spokesperson for the Abbotsford police, said all the occupants inside the home — who were asleep at the time — were unharmed.

Police have confirmed that the shooting is targeted and related to an ongoing extortion investigation.

Investigators are seeking assistance from the public. Anyone who was in the area of Janzen Street or nearby between 3:15 a.m. and 4 a.m. and may have witnessed suspicious activity or captured dashcam footage, is asked to contact the AbbyPD at 604-859-5225.
