A second driver from the same trucking company has been hit with fines again after being pulled over for impaired driving.
Burnaby RCMP said one of its commercial vehicle enforcement officers was driving behind a loaded dump truck on July 3 when the officer watched the truck swerve side to side and cross the centre line while southbound on Boundary Road. At one point, the truck hit a raised centre median.
The officer then pulled over the truck on Marine Way near Roseberry Avenue and the driver was asked to take a sobriety test but failed. As a result, the driver was banned from driving for 90 days, the truck was impounded for 30 days and he was issued three violation tickets totalling $1,300.

According to police, it’s not the first time the trucking company has faced this issue.
Less than two months ago, another driver with the same company was pulled over just a couple hundred metres up the road, and also failed a sobriety test. That driver was also hit with the exact same penalties.
“This is becoming too much of a regular occurrence in the Lower Mainland,” said Const. Kevin Connolly of the Burnaby RCMP’s traffic unit.
Connolly said police “can’t share the company’s name” but that cops had forwarded details of the latest incident and the previous incident to the Transportation Ministry for investigation. Commercial trucking companies are regulated under the ministry.
