Vancouver swimmers rejoice. The popular Kitsilano Pool, which was closed for part of last summer, reopens on Saturday.

The aging 137-metre outdoor pool in Vancouver at Kits Beach has been hit with problems over the past few years but the city says it plans to keep it open all summer.

Kitsilano Pool, the city’s only saltwater swimming pool, is more than 50 years old and in its end-of-life phase, which means annual maintenance and potential repairs will continue to be necessary, the park board said last month.

The Kitsilano Pool opens Saturday in Vancouver.

Staff began their annual work to prepare the pool for the season, as soon as weather conditions allowed. During this process, pool infrastructure issues were identified that require additional attention before the pool could open.

Advance reservation is not required but is recommended. There will be a limited number of sessions available for drop-ins, and admission is not guaranteed.

Tickets can be purchased online , or can be reserved over the phone by calling Showpass Customer Service at 1-844-307-7469. There is a small reservation fee.
