On November 20, Will Bosi made the second ascent of Copperline V14 (8B+), an Aidan Roberts’ climb established in August 2020. Copperline is located in Coniston Boulders, United Kingdom. Roberts made the first ascent of Copperline Stand V12 a few months before establishing the low version, which adds about six moves to the problem. The crux section features a deep drop knee and compression-style climbing on poor crimps and pinches.
“Grade wise I think this felt pretty hard for [V14] and could definitely see it being [V15],” said Bosi on Instagram. “Interested to hear from other repeats in the future.”
Bosi’s hard bouldering resume is unmatched. He has five V17 ascents to his name. In October 2022, he climbed his first of the grade, making the third ascent of Shawn Raboutou’s Alphane. Less than six months later, he ticked his second V17 with his second ascent of Nalle Hukkataival’s Burden of Dreams. In February last year, he made the second ascent of Daniel Woods’ Return of the Sleepwalker in Red Rock, Nevada. In October, he surprised many with a rapid second ascent of Aidan Roberts’ Spots of Time. Earlier this year, in August, he made his first V17 FA, opening Realms of Tor’ment at Raven Tor, U.K.
Recently, Bosi shared his process while projecting Adam Ondra’s Silence 5.15d in the Hanshelleren Cave in Flatanger, Norway. While his trip has now ended, he is optimistic about returning. In August, he made the first ascent of Spots of Lime 5.14d at Cornice, United Kingdom. In February, he made the second ascent of Stefano Ghisolfi’s Excalibur 5.15c, his hardest sport line to day.
