Rosie O’Donnell apologizes for saying Minneapolis shooter was 'MAGA person'

Comedian Rosie O’Donnell issued an apology for alleging the Minneapolis school shooter was a “MAGA person.”

“I did not do my due diligence before I made that emotional statement, and I said things about the shooter that were incorrect,” O’Donnell said in a video posted on Sunday.

“I assumed, like most shooters, they followed a standard MO and had standard, you know, feelings of… you know, NRA-loving kind of gun people,” O’Donnell added.

“Anyway, the truth is I messed up, and when you mess up, you fess up. I’m sorry. This is my apology video and I hope it’s enough.”

Two children died last week at a Minneapolis Catholic school and 18 people, mostly children, were wounded when a shooter opened fire during mass.

“What do you know? It was a white guy, Republican, MAGA person. What do you know? White supremacists,” O’Donnell said in a video posted to social media last Thursday.

FBI Director Kash Patel said on X that the attack was an act of domestic terrorism, citing the shooter’s statements against multiple religions and calls for violence against President Trump.

Authorities also said “kill Donald Trump” was inscribed on one of the weapons used.

The shooter, 23-year-old Robin Westman, whom federal officials referred to as transgender, died by suicide.

Parents of children who survived the incident have called for harsher gun laws following the deadly event.

O’Donnell, who has repeatedly criticized Trump, fled the United States after Trump’s return to office.

O’Donnell said she would consider returning to America when “it’s safe” and all citizens have “equal rights.”

Following her decision to relocate, Trump threatened to revoke O’Donnell’s citizenship, referring to the comedian as a “threat to humanity.”
