A Vancouver man is facing assault charges after a fast-food cook was punched for refusing to give a customer a free add-on to a burger on Monday.

Police say shortly after 7 p.m., a 23-year-old man was working at a fast-food restaurant on Granville Street when a customer asked for free bacon to be added to his burger.

Police allege that when the customer was told he’d have to pay for the bacon, he went behind the counter, into the kitchen, and punched the cook in the face.

The worker sustained a facial injury that required medical attention.

Police say the suspect left, but was chased by another staff member and arrested outside the restaurant by police.

Jaxon Andre Carter, 24 has been charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm.
