Vancouver man charged with human trafficking: RCMP

A Vancouver man has been charged with human trafficking and sexual assault for alleged offences in B.C. and Ontario, Mounties said.

Police investigated Tevin Douglas, 31, last May after a man was suspected of involvement in trafficking a victim in the Lower Mainland and in the Toronto area between July 1 and Dec. 1, 2023.

Charges against Douglas were approved by the B.C. Prosecution Service last week, including trafficking, sexual assault, procuring a person to provide sexual services and advertising sexual services.

He was arrested by Vancouver and Burnaby police and B.C.’s special enforcement unit at his Vancouver home.

He was released Tuesday with conditions.

Investigators say there could be other victims who haven’t come forward yet.

“Human trafficking is rarely confined to a single victim or even a single province,” Insp. Lyndsay O’Ruairc of the B.C. counter-human trafficking unit said in a statement.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact their local police.
