A Sa-Hali Secondary School portable that burned to the ground in Kamloops early Wednesday morning is being deemed suspicious.
Police responded to the 200 block of Arrowstone Drive at about 2 a.m. after the Kamloops Fire Department requested assistance. Officers arrived on scene at a structure fully engulfed in flames. While fire crews were able to contain the blaze and no other structures were damaged, a portable was destroyed.
Cpl. Dana Napier said the General Investigative Support Team, along with fire investigators, is working together to determine the cause and origin of the blaze.
“As we actively investigate, we will continue to work closely with School District 73 and KFR to learn more about this incident,” said Napier.
Residents in the area are asked to check their video surveillance, and for anyone who may have been in the area leading up to 2 a.m., to please reach out to the Kamloops RCMP Detachment with any information or footage they may have by calling 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
