Traffic was backed up on the Alex Fraser Bridge early Thursday because of a vehicle incident, according to Drive B.C.

Traffic reports on News 1130 radio said at one point traffic was backed up as far as Highway 10 near the Surrey and Delta border.

At about 9 a.m., Drive B.C. said the bridge has since been cleared and traffic should resume soon.

The RCMP’s Highway Patrol said northbound delays on the bridge were initially caused by a stalled vehicle, and then other vehicles became involved.

RCMP say while the bridge has reopened it will take some time for traffic congestion to ease, and officers suggest avoiding the bridge and taking the Massey Tunnel route instead.
