Police are investigating after what appeared to be a pipe bomb was found in east Vancouver.
According to Const. Tania Visintin, police were called to a home near East 49th Avenue and Fleming Street just after 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday after someone found a device that resembled a pipe bomb.
“VPD bomb technicians came to the scene to investigate,” said Visintin. “It appears the device was a pipe but with no powder inside. Meaning, it could be made into a bomb, but in this case, it wasn’t.”
Visintin said police are now investigating who placed the item there and why.
No further information was available.
