NBC News is demanding former President Trump's campaign take down a fake clip circulating on social media that altered a report from one of its correspondents.
The clip, shared by a top Trump adviser last month, shows NBC's Garrett Haake giving a report from the third GOP primary debate, which the network hosted.
The first 30 seconds of the clip appear unaltered, but then a voiceover replaces Haake's voice calling Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis an "establishment RINO" and saying "nobody really gives a shit about Nikki Haley."
NBC News has demanded the Trump campaign take the video down, Semafor first reported, citing two people familiar with the demand.
The Trump aide who shared the initial clip, Chris LaCivita, followed up only hours after the initial social media post, sharing the clip again and writing: "To keep NBC News Lawyers off my ass, please noteā¦.THIS IS A PARODY!"
Trump has sparred with NBC and mainstream media outlets covering him for years.
Most recently, he threatened Comcast, NBC Universal's parent company, saying the government should investigate it for what he said is "threatening treason."
