Grenade found in carry-on luggage at LaGuardia: TSA

The Transportation Security Administration found a grenade inside a man’s carry-on luggage at LaGuardia International Airport on Monday.

“Yes, it's a real grenade. Fortunately it was inert,” TSA spokesperson Lisa Farbstein wrote in a post on X with a picture of the explosive device.

Because the grenade was inactive, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which oversees LaGuardia, did not arrest or charge the individual but did confiscate it before allowing the passenger to board.

The man in possession of the grenade told police he acquired it at a museum, according to TSA. It will now be used as a training aid when working with TSA officers.

The event comes exactly a month after a mass evacuation at LaGuardia due to a suspicious package.
