Pilot of Channel inflatable loses bid to appeal against manslaughter verdict

Court of appeal rules Ibrahima Bah cannot challenge conviction and sentence for deaths of four asylum seekers

A man convicted of manslaughter after four people died as he steered a boat across the Channel has lost his attempt to challenge his convictions and sentence.

Ibrahima Bah was sentenced to nine and a half years in jail after the deaths as he piloted the “unseaworthy” inflatable between France and the UK on 14 December 2022.
