The IFSC just announced that Denver, Colorado will hold its first-ever World Cup this coming 2025 season. From May 31 to June 1, the city will host the sixth Speed World Cup of the season. The event will follow the Boulder World Cup being held in Salt Lake City, Utah from May 23 to 25.
The United States has long history of hosting IFSC World Cup events. Since 2008, the country has held 20 World Cups. Vail, Colorado was the regular stop from 2008 to 2019. Since 2021, Salt Lake City has been the United States’ World Cup stop, sometimes even holding double events. Other cities that have held World Cups in the past include Boulder, Colorado in 2011 and Atlanta, Georgia in 2012.
We can all expect the Team USA Paris Olympians to compete on home soil in Denver, including Sam Watson, Zach Hammer, Emma Hunt, and Piper Kelly.
āIām happy to welcome a new city, Denver, to our long list of hosts,” said IFSC President Marco Scolaris. “The strategy we initiated together with our National Federations is to spread Sport Climbing further, and by welcoming Denver among our organisers we are achieving this goal, as well as adding another top-tier stop to our World Cup calendar.ā
