Nathaniel Lowe is on the move.
The Washington Nationals are acquiring the first baseman from the Texas Rangers in exchange for left-handed reliever Robert Garcia, the teams announced on Sunday.
Lowe, 29, has been in the majors for six years, spending the last four — including a World Series-winning season in 2023 — with the Rangers after starting his career with the Tampa Bay Rays.
Through 2478 career at-bats he’s slashed .272/.356/.433. In 2024 Lowe racked up 16 home runs and 69 RBI on 129 hits. His line through 486 at-bats last season was .265/.361/.401.
He was a Silver Slugger (2022) and Gold Glove (2023) winner as a member of the Rangers, and now heads to the Nationals.
Meanwhile, Garcia makes his to Texas for the third season of his MLB career. The 28-year-old made his debut as a member of the Miami Marlins in 2023, before joining the Nationals later that season. He then made 72 appearances with Washington last year, going 3-6 while logging a 4.22 era and 75 strikeouts through 59.2 innings pitched.
The southpaw finished top-10 in strikeouts per 9.0 (seventh) and home runs allowed per 9.0 (10th) amongst lefty relievers last season.
